About The Teachers in Room 203

My name is Lisa Klingensmith and I am your child’s kindergarten teacher here 
at Codington Elementary! I am originally from Northeastern Ohio where I was 
raised on a large dairy farm.  The love I had for animals and children made 
it tough to decide between vet school and education, but I definitely made 
the right decision! I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education 
at Kent State University and worked for a short time as a language 
arts/mathematics tutor after graduation.  I then moved to the Wilmington 
area to pursue my teaching career.  I knew Codington was a special school as 
soon as I walked in the doors as a substitute teacher. I was first hired 
here as a third grade assistant and taught technology to students in 4th and 
5th grade.  I got my own class in January teaching first grade and am now 
pleased to be in kindergarten to begin my first full year as a teacher here 
at Codington. I enjoy going to the beach, reading, and playing basketball in 
my spare time.   



About Mrs. Lilly:
 My name is Kara Lilly and I am the new assistant working with Miss 
Klingensmith. I have been at home with my two new baby girls. They were born 
May 15, 2008. They are now 8 months old, Kendra and Patricia. I also have a 4 
year old daughter, Selina. I have been married to my High School sweetheart 
for the past 12 wonderful years.
 I have always lived in Wilmington and attended our local public schools. I 
have an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Edu. I have worked at Codington 
since the doors first opened in 1997. I have worked with First, Third, and 
Kindergarten children. I am please to say for the past 5 years has been here 
in Kindergarten. 
 I look forward to spending the rest of the year with your children.
