I am so happy to be back at Codington again this year! I obtained my degree
at Kent State University in Ohio with a Bachelors of Science in Education (so
did Mr. Dingwall!) I am starting my 12th year of teaching and I LOVE my job!
I have the very best class and team members to work with. I have worked with
children with multiple disabilities since I was a teenager. I went to a
wonderful training recently and the speaker made a comment that I
thought, "that sounds like me". Barbara Miles said, "It is like I put on a
pair of majical glasses and I can only see what my students can do, not what
they can't do."
I am married to a great guy, Jim. He is very supportive and he loves to hear
stories about your children. I am blessed with a spunky 4 year old who
started Kindergarten this year at Codington. I also have a sweet 9 month old
baby girl who is starting to crawl. We have a new puppy, Ruby as well. Along
with that, my hobbies include reading, going to the beach, and playing soccer
in a recreational league. As you can imagine, I stay busy!
Last, I enjoy working to make things better in the county for children with
special needs. I was accepted to be on the Exceptional Children's Advisory
Council this year. I am very excited!
Teacher Assistants:
Mrs. Goodson: I have lived in Wilmington for over 20 years now and am married
with two dogs who are our babies. I have worked with children with special
needs for over 12 years now, at Pender High, UCP, YMCA and Codington. This is
my 4th year at Codington. I am a restaurant connoisseur and love eating out!
I also love to be with friends, go to the beach and shop.
Ms. Carnahan: I live in Hampstead with my three children, two who are
teenagers and one who currently attends Codington. This is my second year at
Codington and I have been in the childcare field for 15 years. I have worked
with children with special needs for 6 years. In my free time I love to go to
the beach with my children and be with friends and family.
Our mission for the class is to help educate others about people with special
needs and to spread friendship and joy throughout our school community.
