Phonological Processes

T vs. D
These two sounds are made in the exact same placce in your mouth. Put yuor
tongue on the hump behind your top teeth! Remember...these sounds are our top tappers! The /T/ is quiet and the /D/ is noisy!! Practice the 2 words!

1. tap vs. dap
2. tan vs. dan
3. tug vs. dug
4. toe vs. doe
5. tip vs. dip

 

K vs. G
Say the 2 words!
These sounds /K/ and /G/ are made in the same place, but the /K/ is quiet
(shhhhhh!) and /G/ is noisy!!! Put your hand on your throat and feel the
vibration on the noisy /G/ sound!!

1. cat vs. gat
2. came vs. game
3. come vs. gum
4. cap vs. gap
5. kit vs. get

 

Final Consonant Deletion
The final consonant in the word is omitted.  Example:  /m/ in the word "home" is omitted or /f/ in the word "calf" is omitted.

1. Bow vs. Boat
2. Go vs. Goat
3. Bee vs. Beep
4. Tie vs. Type
5. Pea vs. Peach
6. Tea vs. Team


Stopping
A fricative consonant /f, v, s, z, sh, z, th, or h/ or an affricate consonant /ch, j/ is replaced by a stop consonant /p, b, t, d, k, g/.  Example:  /f/ in "funny" is replaced by /p/ or /j/ in "jump" is replaced by /d/.
