FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How do I get in touch with my child's teachers? The easiest way is through e-mail. Here are the e-mail addresses: bharris12@wcpss.net (Mr. Harris), jland@wcpss.net (Dr. Land), rtalbot@wcpss.net (Mrs. Talbot), ssherrill@wcpss.net, (Mrs. Sherrill), mshah@wcpss.net (Mrs. Shah), and ccurtis@wcpss.net (Ms. Curtis). How can I keep updated on how my child is doing? Until the online portion of our gradebook is up and running, the best way to check on your student's progress is to contact their teachers through e-mail. How do I know whether my child has homework or not? We have our homework (and usually classwork) assignment posted under each teacher's webpage on this site. If it is listed, they should have it done. What can parents do to help their child be successful? Stay in contact with their teachers and keep up to date on their grades. Also, make sure your student is writing down their assignments in their planners. If you have the time, volunteering at school is great way to stay connected. Can I do anything to help my child's team of teachers? Absolutely! There are a wide array of possibilities for parent volunteers. We could always use help with making copies, planning celebrations for birthdays and awards, and chaperones are just a couple ideas. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Harris or Dr. Land. If a face to face meeting is necessary, how do I set it up? Since we meet as a team, just contact any core teacher to set up a conference. We usually try to meet at 12:00 on Wed, but other times and days can be arranged. What is the best way to express questions, concerns, or joys? Let us know. Whether teacher, team, or school related, positive or negative, we want to know. If it is area of concern, we can address any questions or if need be, make necessary changes. Also, if we are doing something right, we like to hear about it as well. It really depends on when units are completed and the length of the unit. Each teacher gives tests when they feel it is necessary to check the understanding of the unit they are teaching. We try not to have more than 2 tests on a given day. We post, in the classroom and on the website, when are tests are going to be given several days ahead of time. |
