Success Strategies

The Track One Seventh Grade Teachers have several procedures in place to help your child keep up with his or her school work and to inform you the parent with what is going on with your child at school. It is our intention to provide you and your child with these tools so that together you can design strategies for his or her academic success.

  • Teachers have posted their gradebooks online via NCWise. (Please understand that collecting and grading assignments and then posting them online is not an instant process. There is a 'lag time'.)
  • The “Monday Letter” (Weekly Team Newsletter) is sent to all parents on Mondays as an email and/or with students as a hard copy. This has information related to the topics of study, as well as upcoming projects, tests, etc. Please email Ms. Gilmore (lgilmore@wcpss.net) if you have not been receiving this via email and wish to.
  • Homework is posted daily on an agenda poster in each classroom to be copied into your child’s school agenda.  FYI - Your child's agenda should NEVER be blank or say 'none' in a core class.
  • Your child has a record of homework completed in language arts & math class called a Stamps Calendar. You can check this calendar against the student agenda to see if homework is being completed. (Calendars are collected in each core class when the class has been had five stamped homework assignments.)
  • Your child is allowed to turn in any homework they failed to complete on time for half credit. They should turn this in with the stamp calendar the day that it is collected for that core class.
  • Class updates are available on this website. Homework is updated the week following. Major upcoming events such as tests and projects are listed in advance.
  • Lunchtime help is available for your child from each core teacher four out of five days of the week. (Every day except the day that teacher has lunch duty.)
  • Each day, your child has 15 minutes of “Team Time” (study hall) in which to work on assignments, study for upcoming tests, etc.
  • Students are allowed to retake language arts and math quizzes  for a maximum new grade of 80%.

Thank you in advance for all of your support. Please let us know if you have any questions. You may call the school (870-4098) and leave a number where we can reach you at 9 am or 12 pm or you can email us at the addresses listed at the bottom of our home page.

Sincerely,

- The Track One Seventh Grade Teachers
