Monday Letter

Shark Update for the week of Oct 6th

Field trip forms were sent out last week, and the $25 fee is due this Friday. The date of the field trip to the N.C. Zoo is Thursday, November 6th. We will be needing a large amount of chaperones, so please consider joining us for this trip. You can indicate your chaperone interest on the bottom of the permission form.

School picture retakes are on Oct. 16th.

Language Arts- Students will be writing a "Fractured Fairy Tale" during the beginning of the week, and they will be reading a short story called "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" on Thursday and Friday. There is a morpheme test on Wednesday, and there is a reading log this week.

Core math:
We are finishing our fractions unit this week with a test on Friday.  There is no POW this week.
Since track in there has been a large number of students not completing their homework.  Please check with your child on a nightly basis to make sure they are on track with this.  Thanks!

Pre-Algebra:
We are finishing our fractions unit this week with a test on Friday.  There is no POW this week

Science and Social Studies: We are continuing our integrated unit on "black gold." As a final product to be completed at school, students will be writing a problem/solution essay in the form of a letter to an editor suggesting solutions to America's dependence on foreign oil. There will be a notebook check on Friday in both classes, so your child should ask for adult input this week.

Have a great week!
