Happy New Year Trailblazers! I hope that you had a wonderful two-week
holiday vacation with your families. I sure did! Thank you everyone for the
sweet treats, gift cards and holiday cards. Your gifts were generous and
thoughtful. Thank you so much! I wish you all a happy, healthy and
successful 2010!
Just before the holiday break we finished our study of West Africa. Those
students that were absent for the unit test must make this up asap. The West
Africa map quiz and tests will be returned as soon as all students have
completed these assessments. (I will be happy to share your grades - just
ask!)
PLEASE START OFF THE NEW YEAR BY BEING PREPARED FOR CLASSES: Paper, pencils,
notebooks, etc. Every student will need to have ONE POCKET FOLDER for the
research/writing project that we will be starting next week. *(Office Max is
having a sale Jan.3-9= 15% off !!)
Students will explore Central Africa this week through various Center work
materials and writing assignments. Use your textbook at home. REmember to
access the on-line, interactive maps and activities as well!
Monday, Jan. 4: Social Studies students will have the opportunity to explore
career ideas with Ms. Tennie, a technology teacher at HMS. Homework: please
get needed supplies- especially a one pocket-folder!
Tuesday, Jan. 5: Complete labeling map of Central AFrica. Use Chap. 17,p.
413 and 415. One pocket folder, notebook paper and pencils are due by next
week- when we will start the research/writing project.
Wednesday, Jan. 6: **2:00 EARLY RELEASE TODAY.**
Complete any Center work summaries or drawings started in class today. Study
your Central Africa map.
Thursday, Jan. 7: Same as above. Remember to access the on-line, interactive
maps and activities as well!
Friday, Jan. 8: Same as above.
