Can my child be discontinued if they reach benchmarks?

Your child may be discontinued if we all agree your child has made the
progress and is meeting or exceeding benchmarks.

What can I do at home to help my child?

Read to and with your child! Have fun reading together!! : )
Be sure you continue to read to your child to model fluency and expression.
This will also provide a chance for your child to work on his/her listening
comprehension. You can always work on having your child tell you about a
story you've read to him/her for retelling practice. Make a game of it if
you want.
Another thing you can do is have your child read the books that are sent home
from school to you or another family member. These books are books that your
child has read during class. Rereading is a necessary practice which will
improve his/her fluency.
Knowing the sight words at the appropriate grade level will help your child
make progress in reading. These are the words your child needs to know when
he/she sees them in isolation.
