K-Kids News

Dear Parents and Students...I hope all are having a wonderful trackout!!!!  My last official workday was yesterday...so, I begin my trackout today!!!!  I wanted to share some outstanding news with all of you...

Our very own Mrs. Lauren Mirante was chosen as Teacher Assistant of the Year at Highcroft Drive Elementary!!!  This confirms what we already knew...Mrs. Mirante is a very dedicated, hard-working, kind and caring Teacher Assistant.  She loves each child in our classroom and works hard each day to help them be successful in all they do.  She helps us all in so very many ways....what a deserving recipient of this award!!!  We will celebrate when we are all back together in room 315!!!

One more thing....each child needs to bring an ADULT-size shoe box to school when we return.  This will be for carrying their gingerbread houses home....it needs to be large!!!

We did accomplish our goal of reading 100 books in November for "Team Eli" sponsored by Scholastic books!!!  Our class has been entered into a drawing for winning 500 books to be sent to a school of our choice.  We hope we win for the Highland Center in Shreveport, La.!!!  (where my daughter Lindsey is the director!!!)

This is all the news for now....have a joyous holiday season!!!!  Enjoy this special time with your kindergartner!!!!!  What a joy it is to teach this age!!!

Love,
Mrs. Kathy Wells :-)

Happy Holidays!!!!!  Track 1 is tracked out and enjoying the change of pace that this brings to our families!!!  Enjoy the playing, the sleeping, the reading, the writing, the shopping, the decorating, the baking, the eating, the wrapping....extra time with family and friends.  Safe travels to all!!!

I will update this website closer to the time we return to school.  We will be making our gingerbread houses on Friday, January 8th at 2:15p.mWe have the following folks signed up to help with the decorating part on Friday:  Camha Nguyen, Jackie Truffelman, Amy Montanus, Danielle Hatfield, Tracy Curzan, Sarah Stauffer, Margaret McRae, Kim Covington, Amy Newton, Melanie Ensman and Karen Murdock signed up to help us.  If your plans have changed and you can no longer come in to help, please email me.  Thanks!!  If you are not signed up and want to help, please send me an email!!  We will also need 4 parents to put the houses together before our decorating day.  (Directions will be sent home to you!!)  This can be done in the quiet of your home and them you can bring the houses to school.  This is always one of my favorite activities in kindergarten!!!  Please join us, if you can!!

Many, many thanks for all the wonderful gifts, cards, outpouring of love you have shown us this holiday season!!  Our greatest gift is to teach your child each day!!!

Have a wonderful holiday!!  We will see you back at Highcroft Drive on Monday, January 4, 2010!!!

Much Love,
Mrs. Kathy Wells & Mrs. Lauren Mirante
