Hi...Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year!!! Kindergarten is the very best
year of school!! I am excited about getting to know you and your child
and look forward to our year together!!
A little bit about me:
I have been living in the Cary area for 29 years!! I have a wonderful
family: husband David, an optometrist, two grown daughters Lindsey and
Kate. Lindsey is married to Pen and they have a beautiful baby boy born
December 18, 2006. I am "Mimi" to Wells Campbell Peery!!! Kate is a middle
school teacher in Harnett County.
I love the beach, seafood and the color yellow!! I love to
shop at Coldwater Creek!! I enjoy spending time with my family and
friends. I am a HUGE Carolina fan!! Go TARHEELS!! 2009 National Champions
in basketball!! I am also a big Carolina Hurricanes fan!!! GO CANES!!
I graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia with a
degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching kindergarten for
quite awhile. This marks my 36th year in teaching, most in public
kindergarten. Eight years were spent in church preschools, when my
daughters were young. Kindergarten is my love!!
I helped open Highcroft Drive Elementary School 5 years ago and served
as grade chair for four years! I am the Mentor Coordinator and oversee the
Mentor/Mentee Program, where I match first, second, third year teachers with
trained mentors. I am also a trained mentor and enjoy working with new
teachers and sharing my love for teaching. This year I will be working on
the Student Support Team, which works with students, teachers and parents to
find strategies to help with students' learning.
I look forward to meeting you and working with your child and you this
school year!!
I believe each child is created special and unique, deserving the very best
education possible. Kindergarten is a "garden where children grow"...where
each child is nurtured, loved and encouraged to accomplish all developmental
skills at her/his own pace. Your child will learn through doing, seeing,
tasting, hearing and trying new things. Social skills are a big part of
kindergarten. We will all learn to live together, using the eight character
traits of: responsibility, respect, courage, kindness, self-discipline,
integrity, perseverance and good judgement. And we will have alot of fun
each day!! I love the sound of laughter in the classroom.
