I am a native New Englander, born and raised in Massachusetts. My family
and I relocated to North Carolina in July of 2004 so that I could join the
staff in opening Highcroft Drive Elementary. My husband and I have 3
children: ages 11, 9, and 7. The youngest two will be in 4th and 2nd grade
here at Highcroft, while our oldest starts her first year of middle school at
Salem.
I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University
of Massachusetts Lowell. This will be my sixth year teaching in Wake
County, but I have always taught in the public school systems, and have
additional experience from years spent in New Jersey and Massachusetts. I
also took a few years off while my kids were younger, so I fully understand
both the challenges of staying home and working when raising a family.
When I am not busy with school, I love to be outdoors. We enjoy spending
time at the pool, or taking the kids and the dog out for a walk or to the
local parks. I have recently discovered the sport of triathlons, and
completed two short sprints last fall, and have signed up for 3 more this
season. I enjoy training because it gives me some much needed time for
myself, as well as a variety of activities to keep me motivated.
I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year with the children! While
this will be my first year teaching third grade, I am very
excited about the change, and look forward to working with a great team of
teachers as I adjust to the new curriculum. Third
grade is such a year of transition and growth - both socially and
academically - that I am excited about the transformation that is sure to
take place during the year. I look forward to working together to make this
an outstanding year for your child.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my website! Please don't hesitate to
contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns.
It is always my mission to encourage a love of learning in my students. I
will work to provide your child with a safe, nurturing environment where they
can explore new ideas and accept new challenges. Together, we will celebrate
their successes and learn from their mistakes.
