Hello Everyone!! Can you believe that second quarter has begun?!?!
In Reading, our focus will be on Non-fiction. The class will be activating
prior knowledge in order to help predict the articles we will be discussing.
They will be learning about Cause and Effect relationships and inferencing.
In Math, we will be learning how to estimate sums and differences in
rounding, word problems, elapsed time, and area/perimeter. We will also
begin learning our multiplication facts and how multiplication is related to
division. In late February, we will begin our Multiplication Sundae testing.
The kids love this learning experience the most!! We will practice each day
in the classroom and the homework will reinforce what we have learned. I
also suggest that you practice math facts 0-12 with your child each night at
home with flashcards starting in late November. These can be purchased at
Target, Walmart or sometimes Office Max/Depot. I LOVE to continue our
learning throughout the year by competing with other classes on our math
facts. We have yet to lose but have to remember that I taught our
competition!!
