Hello Everyone!! Our CogAt testing starts on Tuesday. I have spoken to the class and told them that all we expect is their best. I would appreciate it if you could get them to school on time and ready to go! I am a firm believer that the child does a better job on their test if they are in their regular class environment. I sent home a letter today explaining our Christmas Book exchange in class. I have asked each child to bring in a "new" or "slightly used" grade level book wrapped by December 11th to share with the class. Every child will receive a book in the end to keep. Please have your child study their multiplication facts over the Christmas break and each day from now on. Mastery is so important and my expectation is that they have them mastered and fluent by the end of Quarter 3. We will learn the 2's, 5's, 10's, and 9's first. I will teach them all the tricks I know to memorize these facts but appreciate any help you can give from home. I will have the kids ask you for suggestions and then share with the class (for StarCards of course ;-) As I told them, 5 - 10 minutes a day using flash cards or the computer at www.MathisFun.com will help tremendously in the long run.
