Happy November!
I hope you had a very relaxing and enjoyable Track Out! I had a great time
entertaining family and friends that came to visit from Buffalo. Also,
somehow, the Bills pulled out a win for me on my birthday! Hooray.
I'd like to personally thank each and every one of you for the birthday
surprise you had for me before Track Out. You are extremely generous families
and I am happy and excited to be back in the classroom with your students.
Here are some updates for the next few weeks (to get us through to
Thanksgiving).
The book fair will be until Friday, November 13th at 12:00pm. We previewed
the book fair and your child should have a green "wish list" for books they
want to purchase on Thursday, November 12th.
We have our Writer In Residence, Mr. Tony Peacock, working with your children
during writing this week. He is taking the students through the writing
process and they will be writing a personal narrative of their choice! We
cannot wait to share these in Author's Chair next Monday.
Also, next Monday we will begin SCIENCE again! I know the students are
thrilled to become geologists and study Rocks and Minerals. We will work on
Science from now until December 18th.
Pirate Day is NEXT Friday, November 20th. It is an ALL day experience. Please
look for e-mails and paper copies (in homework and Wednesday folders) for
reminders about this important day! Students are spending Social Studies time
this week and reading time this week and next, learning more Pirate
information to be prepared for this wonderful learning experience!
We will be setting up for Pirate Day Thursday November 19th at 4pm and also
the morning of November 20th at 7:45, if any volunteers are interested!
Finally, our 4th grade T-shirts have arrived! There is one per student and
the cost is $6.50. This is not included or was not included in any other
payments early on, so please provide a check payable to HDE or EXACT cash to
receive the NEWLY designed 4th grade t-shirts. These will be worn for in-
class field trips, out of class trips, as well as any learning experiences
(except for pirate day).
Thanks and only a few more weeks until another little break!
