Homework is assigned every Monday-Thursday evening, usually in Reading and
Math. The reading homework Monday-Thursday is 30 minutes of independent
reading of an appropriate 4th grade chapter book. The reading is to be
recorded on the quarterly reading log each night. Your child should be
provide a short retelling of what he/she has read, and you are to evaluate
and sign off on the reading log each night. Math homework varies from the
Homework and Remembering Book (orange and yellow Math Expressions soft
covered book) and various supplemental worksheets.
I do not post homework on the website; each child is responsible for
writing it down in his/her green assignment notebook (agenda), taking all
materials needed home with them at the end of the day, and returning
everything to school the next day in his/her homework folder.
Wake County expectations are that "on average" each 4th grader spends around
45 minutes to an hour each evening working on homework.
If your student goes over that time and is "stumped" or having frustrations
with a particular assignment, please write me a note and I will work with
your child during the following day's TRAIL time. Thank you in advance for
reinforcing the importance of being an organized, responsible, and
hardworking student with your child!
