About The Teachers

Hi I'm Tina Mozingo. I am delighted to be back at Highcroft again this year.
This is my 6th year.I am working with students in grades K-5 in the resource
room as well as pushing into a couple of classes to give support in reading,
writing, and math.

The last twenty-five years I have spent my career working with Special Needs
Children of all ages. It hit me when I was extremely young that I wanted to
be an educator of children with various academic and emotional challenges.
These children have ranged from ages five to twenty. Their labels of
exceptionality have been in the area of: autism, visually and other health
impaired, learning disabled, mentally handicapped, behaviorally emotionally
disabled, and developmentally delayed. My goal is to touch each child in a
positive way each and every day.

I have three daughters of my own. Two are in college, at ECU and I have a
six year old here at Highcroft. She keeps me extremely busy and brightens my
day with her spirited personality. I love the outdoors and must eat
chocolate everyday. My passion is spending time with children and making a
difference in their lives.

Hi and thanks for reading about me! I am Betsy Monroe. I have been teaching
in the North Carolina Public Schools for 10 years. I have been an elementary
classroom teacher, an elementary school counselor, and am excited to now be
working as a resource teacher in special education. I received my
undergraduate degree at Guilford College in Greensboro, and my Master's at
North Carolina State University. Go Pack!! I love working with young
children, particularly in smaller groups where I feel I can really get to
know them and connect with them. "Children don't care how much we know until
they know how much we care" is a motto that definitely fits my philosophy.

I have 3 boys that all attend Highcroft. My son Nicholas is in 5th grade,
and my twins John and Andrew are in 2nd grade. I feel very fortunate to be
able to work in the same wonderful school that they attend.

Hello!
My name is Donna D'Jernes. My students usually call me "Mrs. D". I am the
newest member of our Special Ed. team this year at Highcroft. Track 4
students will be my primary focus as a Cross Categorical Resource teacher.
Although I am new to Highcroft, I have taught for many years. My experience
has been in many settings: elementary, middle, and high school, as well as
some administrative and private work. My undergraduate education was
completed at Ohio State University. Additional education and certifications
have been through Ohio State and University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill.
I love working with students! That is the fun part of my job. I enjoy the
individuality of each student and work hard to meet their educational needs.
I strive to treat each student with the concern and support I would give my
own child. I have three daughters of my own. Two are currently in high
school at Green Hope and one is attending college at ECU. (Go Pirates!).
I look forward to meeting with parents of my students. Please feel free
to contact me at ddjernes@wcpss.net.
