Can my child bring candy for snack time?

Please do not send candy to school for snack time. We have a late 
lunch, but students should only pack healthy snacks. In 5th 
grade, we have a "working snack." We eat while we check math 
homework.

How long should my child be reading at home each night?

All 5th graders should be reading for 30 minutes every night as 
homework. In addition, they should be able to self-select 
appropriate text and be able to finish a novel in one to two 
weeks.
