About The Teacher

Before moving from Grand Island, New York to Cary, North Carolina, I
received my Bachelor's in Elementary and Special Education and Master's in
Elementary Education with a reading concentration. In New York, I taught
fifth grade for 2 years, a combination of 3rd/4th/5th grade Social Studies
for one year and 7th grade special ed. for one year. In my spare time I
enjoy exercising, reading, cooking, and traveling.

This will be my sixth year teaching 3rd grade at Highcroft Elementary
School. I am excited for another rewarding year. It is a pleasure to work
with such a dedicated team of teachers and supportive, caring parents at
Highcroft Elementary! I look forward to working with each of you this
year.

Mission For The Class

My mission for the class is to help each of my students be the best that
they can be; growing academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
In addition, the following poem further illustrates my mission for the class.

I dreamed I stood in a studio
and watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young man’s mind
and they fashioned it with care.
One was the teacher;
the tools he used were books, music and art.
One was a parent,
who worked with a guiding hand and a
gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled
with a touch that was deft and sure;
while the parent labored by his side
and polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last their task was done,
they were proud of what they wrought.
For the things they had molded into the
child could neither be sold or bought.
Each agreed that he would have failed
if he had worked alone.
For behind the teacher stood the school
and behind the parent, the home.
