Dear Parents,
I hope you all had a good week. We are almost there - three school days
until track out. Wow! Here are some things that we have been doing:
Math: We are working in a unit focusing on geometry. This week we discussed
the properties of a triangle, square and rectangle. We learned about angles -
square corners or 90 degree angles, line segments and how to find the
perimeter of an area in centimeters. In team time we continued to work with
money.
Literacy: We are finishing up our unit using non-fiction texts. We are
making personal connections to the text. Further, we are identifying what
good readers do when reading various texts, such as following a recipe or a
how to. We read with a different purpose and read differently.
Writing: We are completing the revision section of Writer's Workshop. On
Monday we will have an author's celebration in our room. We are going to
make a display that will be hung up when we track back in showing the types
of revisions we have done to our work.
Word Study: No new words until we track back in to school for third
quarter.
Thank you to Mrs. McCarty for completing a Fun Friday event today. The
children played turkey bingo using addition and subtraction facts, made a
turkey treat and learned facts about Thanksgiving! The children enjoyed it.
Thank you to Rishie's family for offering to take Henry over track out.
Thank you to the McCarty's for offering to take Snickers over track out.
