Dear Parents,
Welcome to our new classroom the Second Grade "Stars." My name is Michele
Tempke and I will be teaching your child this year. Some of you may know me
as I have been teaching at Highcroft Drive Elementary for the past three
years teaching Kindergarten the first two years and the third year, second
grade. I am very excited to begin another year in second grade.
I feel very fortunate to be working in a great school. I
have two children, Ryan, age 9, who is now in the fourth grade and Nicholas,
age 5, beginning Kindergarten this year.
This is my sixth year teaching. I graduated from Slippery Rock University
in PA and have been working on my Master’s Degree on and off since.
Besides learning academics, my main goal is for your child to love school!
I believe in providing a positive classroom environment where children enjoy
learning. Your child will learn, but have fun in the process. It is
important to me that children love school. The first few years of school
are so important to develop that love of learning and form academic habits
that will last a lifetime. If your child begins by having a love for school
then the academics will come naturally.
Open communication is very important. Please bring any concerns to me as
soon as you have them. I may be reached by note, phone – I will return any
calls or emails as soon as I have a break. You may email me at
mtempke@wcpss.net Also, equally as important, please send in positive
feedback. I love to receive positive notes. I will also do the same.
I look forward to working with you and your child.” Together we will
have a great year!
My main goal is for children to love school! When children enjoy going
to school then learning will be a natural process. The first few years
begins the long journey through the educational system. All that occurs
begins with the love of learning.
