As part of the Music Curriculum, students in the Fifth Grade have the
opportunity to participate in the Highcroft Drive Ensemble. Not only will
students sing and move, but they will also play barred instruments, drums and
recorders. While doing this, students will learn a variety of music
literature, how to play the instruments properly and how to follow a
conductor. These music skills will transfer to any ensemble or chorus that a
student might elect in middle school.
In the ensemble, our goal is for every student to have a positive experience
and to also prepare students adequately for performances. Thus, we only
allow four absences (this includes being sick, doctor's apt., etc.). After
the fourth absence, the student will not be allowed to perform with the
ensemble.
There will be information and an application coming home in August.
