This is my fourth year at Highcroft and my second year teaching 2nd grade. I
have been teaching for over 10 years. In the beginning of my career I
taught special needs children for Long Branch Public Schools in NJ. I left
to have my own children and we moved to Florida. I then worked part time for
Broward County Schools in Weston, Florida. When we moved to Cary, I taught
preschool for the Cary Family YMCA before returning to public education at
Wake County Public Schools.
My passion is working with young children. I really enjoy watching my
students discover how wonderful it is to learn something new. I love their
natural curiosity and to watch their expressions when that “light bulb”
moment happens and they grasp a concept that I taught them. It is an
extremely rewarding and satisfying career.
It is my mission to help each student that is in my class be the best they
can be. I want them to feel confident and be able to take risks comfortably.
I encourage them to explore new things and learn to work in different
cooperative groups. They will learn how to work out problems that may arise
and to feel that they are an integral part of the class. I will teach them
independence, perseverance and a strong sense of self. You will often here
me say “try your best” or “let’s work this out”. I really strive to have
my students feel like they can tackle anything and succeed.
