Grades 5, 4, and 3 work on the their keyboarding skills at the beginning of each class. Grades 5 and 4 must key at least 25 words a minute with 90% or better accuracy to move to a new lesson. Grade 3 students must key at least 20 words a minute with 90% or better to move to a new lesson. After practicing keyboarding skills, Grade 5, 4, and 3 students will be working in Microsoft Word and practice using the menu bar, the toolbars, and the shortcut keys. Grade 5 is also working on PhotoStory for the Lewis & Clark Expedition.
Grade 2 students will be working KidPix and working with the toolbar. The first tool the students will use will be the drawing tool. Depending on the track, some of the classes have worked with the paint tool, the background tool, and the fill bucket. They have also learned how to "undo."
Grade 1 students will be working with Mighty Math Zoo Zillions and working with shapes. Again, depending on the track, some of the students have worked with the Number Line Express and with Eddie and the Fish Tank. All these programs help the students with their math. I have the students stop periodically and let them check their progress. They really enjoy seeing how well they are doing.
Grade K with be working with being working with A to Zap. Each week the students will work on three letters of the alphabet.
