Upcoming Units of Study:

Math – we will continue working with tables this week.  These lessons with tables really make the kids have to put their addition, subtraction, and problem solving skills to work!  We will create tables and analyze our data this week.

Reading – our story this week is Dogzilla.  It is a fantasy story written by Dave Pilkey.  The students will complete various activities about this story including making up a new ending, drawing and writing about their favorite part of the story, and choosing real and make believe events in the story.  We will also continue learning about summarizing and retelling non-fiction texts.

Writing – almost all of the letters have been mailed for The Great Mail Race.  The students will conclude their friendly letter writing unit by writing a letter to me.  Spelling this week are words with the o and ou sound.

Social Studies and Science – we will continue our Objects in the Sky unit this week.  We had to postpone our shadow experiments due to the rain last week, but were able to get back on track today.  It was great to see the sun!  In social studies, we’ll continue talking about how roles in the community have changed over time.   Please make sure your child is working on their Objects in the Sky and Moon Calendar projects.
