Dear Parents,
I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. My
name is Missi Baker and I have been teaching at Holly Springs Elementary for
ten years. I have taught second and third grade at Holly Springs. Before
becoming a public school teacher, I taught pre-school. I attended Wake
County Public Schools Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I obtained an
Early Childhood Associates Degree from Wake Technical College and a Bachelors
Degree in Child Development and K-6 certification from Meredith College. I
also achieved my National Board Teaching Certification in 2006. I grew up
in Garner and now live in Willow Spring.
I am an avid NC State fan and love ladybugs. In my spare time, I enjoy
reading, spending time with family and friends, and participating in
activities with my church. I am an active member at my church in Garner.
One of the activities I enjoy at my church is assisting in planning Relay for
Life, a community event to raise money for cancer research. I am also a
newlywed. I married Kristofer Baker on December 15, 2007 and that marriage
created an instant family…2 children…William and Ana. Kristofer and I are
looking forward to adding to our family through adoption--the sooner the
better! :)
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children. I am truly
passionate about teaching and making a difference in the lives of children.
I believe in focusing on the whole child, not just academics. It is very
important to me that each child feels like a part of the classroom family.
We are going to have a phenomenal year. Thank you for sharing your child
with me.
Sincerely,
Missi Baker
I believe that in order for a child to be successful, he or she must feel
safe, cared for, and respected. I try to ensure that each child that is in
my classroom feels these things each day. I try to not only focus on the
academic needs, but the social and emotional needs as well. Success can be
measured in many ways, and I try to acknowledge each time a child experiences
personal success.
