Volunteer Opportunities

Do you have as little as an hour or two to spare each month?
The JDE PTA is looking for volunteers for the 2011-2012 school year, which starts July 2011; a little time can make a big difference to the kids at Jones Dairy Elementary!

The JDE PTA has many opportunities for parents and grandparents to volunteer and make a real difference in our children's lives.  There are many roles with varying time commitments to accommodate anyone's schedule.  Officers, Chairs, Co-Chairs, Coordinators, and other volunteer positions are available in the following areas:

  • Student Enrichment
  • FundRaising
  • Student & Teacher Services
  • School Appreciation & Panther Spirit
  • Hospitality
Also, listed below are positions that are open for the new year!  Please contact Becky Bradley, the Volunteers Chair, at bradleycamel@embarqmail.com if you would like more information about any of these positions:
  • Beautification Coordinator
  • Festivals (Spring Fling) Co-Chair

How Do I Get Involved in the JDE PTA?  It’s Easy!...

Step 1:   Refer to the available positions listed above and decide on your area of interest and the amount of time you can commit.  For a full description of the PTA programs and roles and responsibilities of the members, refer to the "Standing Rules" document, section "Office, Chair, & Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities" (click HERE to access the Standing Rules).

Step 2: Call or email Becky Bradley, the Volunteers Chair, at bradleycamel@embarqmail.com to learn more.

Step 3:  Complete the PTA Volunteer Form (also found on the "Forms & Flyers" page) and return it to the school (either send it in to your child’s teacher or bring it in to the front office).

Step 4:  Remember, all volunteers must complete a background check (takes about 5 minutes, in the media center) per WCPSS policy.  As a volunteer in the public school system you are required to complete a Volunteer Registration. This can be completed on one of the computers in the school media center. Simply bring your driver's license and stop by the media center/library.  Ask for assistance to log in.  The process takes just several minutes. The school system will assign you a volunteer number based on the level of activity and type of contact you will have with the children.

Already registered? That's great! Keep in mind, however, that volunteers must renew their registration each school year. Annual reactivation occurs after July 1st of every year.
