Do you suspect your child is involved with tobacco, drugs, and/or alcohol? Youth involvement with drugs and/or alcohol can be linked to other behaviors, such as academic problems, increased sexual behavior, physical fights, and further illegal behavior. New Hanover County Schools wants to support your student in his or her struggle with substance use to ensure they have the opportunity for recovery. As a part of this support, I want to introduce myself and offer my services to you. My name is Beth Keller, Youth Development Specialist, and I serve Laney High School as a resource to students, parents, faculty, and staff for matters concerning substance abuse and violence prevention. I am here to help you and your student find the help they need. I am available to you and your son or daughter for the following services: 1) I am a school contact supported by the administration and staff available to you for questions, support, and education concerning substance abuse and violence prevention. 2) I can coordinate any need for community resources, such as treatment, counseling, skill development, etc. 3) I can work with your student to offer continued support in making positive decisions. 4) I am available to help your student become involved in positive activities within the Laney HS and New Hanover communities. Please remember you are not alone. Feel free to contact me at any time. Beth Keller New Hanover County Schools Youth Development Specialist 910-350-2089 ext. 439 bkeller@nhcs.net
