Welcome to the Art 1. Each student’s success is important to me. I am
relying on your cooperation, support and participation to make this a
rewarding and fun filled year.
Let’s get started by reading and following these important items:
• Come to class prepared.
• Go to your LOCKERS and utilize the RESTROOM before coming to class.
• Be in class and seated when the bell rings. Detentions will be
issued for EXCESSIVE LATENESS.
• Listen while others are speaking. This includes any announcements
on the P.A. system.
• Respect yourself, your teacher, your classmates, visitors, the
classroom and all art materials provided for your use.
• NO EATING, DRINKING or PERSONAL GROOMING in class.
• NO CELL PHONES or PERSONAL ELECTRONICS allowed in class.
• All students are responsible for maintaining an art notebook.
• When in doubt feel free to ask questions and consult your student
handbook.
Failure to follow this guideline will result in disciplinary action.You and a
parent should sign, date and return this form by tomorrow.This indicates that
you have read, understand and are in agreement with what has been written.
SUPPLY LIST – ART 1 Mr. Collins
• One 3-hole binder at least “1 ½” ( for your art notebook)
• A supply of paper for your binder
• Dividers for separating sections in your art notebook (at least 9)
• ½ dozen # 2 pencils ( not mechanical pencils) for drawing
• Hand held pencil sharpener, with a cover
• Eraser / art gum, vinyl, or kneaded
The following items will be needed only when the class starts painting
assignments.
• Styrofoam egg cartons for mixing paint
• Plastic containers, to hold water during painting
• A smock or large T-shirt to protect clothing during class

. Tutoring time can be used to work on class assignments, review for
quiz or tests and make up participation points.
ART NOTEBOOK Art 1 Mr. Collins
Each student is responsible for creating and maintaining their own art
notebook (1 1/2” 3-hole binder). Keep your art notebook in order on a daily
basis. All entries are to be put into your notebook using a 3-hole punch and
separated with clearly marked dividers.
All notebooks should be assembled and maintained in this order:
1. Calendar: a new calendar page will be given out each month
2. Signed contact: 2 pages signed by a parent or guardian
3. Handouts: dated and kept in order
4. Class notes: dated each day and arranged in order
5. Homework assignments. Returned & Dated
6. Journal entries. Reviewed and graded regularly
7. Artist list. Research for Artist Biography report
8. Vocabulary words list
9. Artwork: dated class assignments
10. Returned quizzes and test: corrected and filed in order
Storage space will be provided for your art notebook in class. To avoid
confusion clearly mark your name on your binder and ALWAYS RETURN NOTEBOOK
TO ITS ASSIGNED PLACE.
