Recommended Summer Reading
Research shows that students who do not continue reading throughout the
summer months find it more difficult to re-establish the academic routine
upon returning to school. The lists of suggested grade-level books and plays
provide students the opportunity to expand their horizons through the written
word.
Upon returning to school in August, the students will have the opportunity to
earn extra credit in their respective English classes from their summer
reading.
Students may elect to take objective tests on two of the books in the first
section of the reading list.
Students may elect to complete a project to be presented to the class on one
of the books read from the second section of the reading list.
Please encourage your young person to read some of the given selections as
well as additional books and magazines throughout the summer months. Reading
sharpens the mind and provides exciting entertainment.
