Master of Education, Secondary Education, Mathematics, UNCW, 2006.
Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, USNA, 1981.
7th year at Laney High School.
Previous experience - proudly served in the military for 25 years.
Geometry - This course includes logic, geometric proofs and
constructions, properties of a line, plane and space, parallelism,
conguencies of line segments, angles and figures, ratio and proportion,
Pythagorean theorem, introduction of trigonometry, coordinate geometry,
quadrilaterals and related solids, area and volume relationships, and
properties of circles and spheres. Reading and problem solving are
emphasized. Real life situations involving geometric principles will
provide for the practice of geometric skills. Several projects will be
assigned throughout the semester in order to enhance student learning. This
course has an "end-of-course" state tested exam.
Precalculus - Provides an honors-level study of trigonometry, advanced
functions, analytic geometry, sequences and series, probability, and data
analysis in preparation for Calculus. Applications and modeling will be
included throughout this course of study.
Advanced Placement Calculuc BC - Continues the students' study of Calculus.
Includes all Calculus AB topics with the additional Calculus BC topics which
include: parametric, polar and vector functions, numerical solutions of
differential equations using Euler's method, L'Hospital's Rule, polynomial
approximations and series.
