just around the corner...start thinking about how fast change can add up to contribute to this
worthy cause.

The focus of Psychology Club ...In 2002 - 2003 students wished to start this club based on an
interest in psychology that sought information outside a traditional classroom environment.
Students wanted to hear more from those that work in the field of mental health and encouraged
guest speakers to come to afternoon/early evening guest lectures. The students contributed by
bringing in snacks and drinks to create a feeling of comfort while extending their day at
Laney. Guest speakers were impressed with the level of knowledge and the depth of student
understanding about psychological research and theory. It is my request that the Laney
Psychology Club return to this focus and student leaders within the club take on this
responsibility.
Many students choose to belong to numerous clubs and this sometimes creates conflicts and often
an overscheduled, stressed teenager...with this in mind, remember that the success of a club
depends greatly on its leaders.
Other opportunities within this club may include: holiday gatherings, watching psychologically
related films, and games day.
Psychology Club is not a counseling club...it is a club that seeks to better understand
Psychology through the understanding of human behavior and mental processes.
