I have over thirty years of mechanical design
engineering experience while at Corning, Inc in both Corning, NY and
Wilmington, NC. I have contributed to the designs of a number of Corning’s
Fiber Optic production and material handling equipment worldwide.
I have also designed automatic parts assembly equipment for an automotive
parts supplier - assembling shock absorbers, spark plugs, carb. parts, light
bulbs and packaging electronic components.
I enjoy sailing, traveling and visiting our national parks.
Mechanical Drafting-Course Syllabus
Course Description
This course introduces students to the use of simple graphic tools used to
communicate and understand ideas and concepts found in the areas of
manufacturing and engineering. The course will introduce the learner to
AutoCAD commands and fundamental CAD and mechanical drafting practices

I will hold tutoring sessions Tuesdays 3:40pm-4:45pm and other times by
appointment only.
Rules and Procedures
Rules:
1. Students are to be in their seats and ready to work when the bell rings
2. Keep your hands, feet and other objects to yourself at all times
3. Always be courteous and polite when speaking to others
4. Homework and assignments are to be turned in on date due
5. Only one person is to talk at a time
6. Pencils are to be sharpened at the beginning of the class before the
lesson begins
Procedures:
1. Students are to begin bell-work as soon as the late bell as rung, no
talking allowed during bell work. Unexcused tardy students are allowed one
warning per month, second tardy will entail lunch detention. Subsequent
tardys will merit 30 minutes after school detention. Absentees: absent
students are to place their excuse in the absent folder and pick up missed
work which is due in two school days from returning to class. The teacher
will excuse the class at the end of the period if the room is in order.
Students are to leave in an orderly fashion.
2. Students are to be attentive and quiet during seatwork and teacher
led instruction time. All students are expected to participate during
discussion times. Everyone will be given an opportunity to take part.
Students will not call out the answers or comment on other’s answers.
Seatwork discussions are to be quiet talking between the partners. Students
are to raise hand for teacher assistance. When seatwork is completed raise
hand for teacher additional instructions. Students will be assigned to
groups by the teacher.
3. Students will be told what equipment and areas are to be off limits
including the teacher’s desk, computer, file cabinet, VCR and TV.
4. During interruptions students are to continue working on current
assignments.
5. Special procedures will be in effect during fire or emergency
drills. These will be conveyed as appropriate. Silence is required during
the announcements or other interruptions.

C=76-85
D=70-75
F=below 69%

Architectural Drafting-Course Syllabus
Course Description
Architecture drafting focuses on the principles, concepts and use of complex
graphic tools used in the architectural field, service systems and the
construction trades. Emphasis is placed on the use of CAD tools in the
