Group Counseling

Small group experiences are offered for students throughout the school year.
The following groups will be offered during school hours, one day a week, for
about six weeks. Groups normally run for approximately thirty minutes during
a time selected by the counselor and the students' teachers. Group
experiences have to remain small and not everyone who signs up will be
offered an opportunity to be in a group at that particular time. Groups are
a wonderful time for students to learn new skills, learn from their peers,
and offer support to one another.

                             Current Groups

Here are some groups that will be offered throughout the year:

Banana Splits (Blended families and divorced/separated parents)-This group
focuses on helping children cope with the many stresses of divorce and
separation. This is a great support group and helps children realize that
they are not the only ones who's parents are divorced!

Friendship Club-This group helps foster confidence in students and helps them
develop the skills needed to make friends and be a friend.

The Cool Kids Club (Anger control group)-This group helps children learn how
to say "cool" in "hot" situations.

Coping with Grief-This group helps children understand the steps in the grief
process and hot to get through them.
