PTA VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION NIGHT:
Please come to this night of appreciation for our PTA Board of Directors and
PTA Committee Chairs who have served you over the 2012-2013 school year! We
will meet in the Media Center for 30-45 minutes starting at 7:00pm. I will be
giving a small token gift of appreciation to them and explaining their amazing
voluntary contributions to the school. (If you have that nagging question in
your mind "What DOES the PTA do at this school?", then this would be a great
meeting to attend to find out the incredible impact we have on the school -
most are awed by how much we do when they see the entire scope of our reach.)
We will also be having a special treat...think cheesecakes...yummmmm!
AGENDA SALES:
Can you believe it's that time already??? Agendas are required for all rising
2nd-5th graders for the 2013-2014 school year. They will be on sale in the
front hall near Mrs. Fillard's office from 8:00-8:30am.
Tracks 2,3&4: June 24-28
Cost: $5
RECORDER SALES:
Recorders for Mr. Denny's music class will also be on sale at the agenda
table, outside of Mrs. Fillard's office from 8:00-8:30am. The recorders are
optional for all rising 4th graders for the 2013-2014 school year. You can
also choose to purchase your own at any retail store or you are able to use a
(clean and sanitary!) school recorder for free.
Tracks 2,3&4: June 24-28
Cost: $3
SCHOOL STORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
**Special calendar note: the school store will close on June 25 and June 27 -
the last week of school**
The school store is looking for 4-5 volunteers to help sell items to the kids
on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:25am for the 2013-2014 school
year. You would only be signing up for a couple mornings per month - not all
of them! They are specifically short on volunteers from Tracks 1 & 2 - we've
had about 5 of our veteran school store volunteers age out this year. This is
a great way to volunteer if you're a working parent, and available in the
mornings. If you can help out or would like more clarification of the exact
hours she needs, please email Stephanie Petty at stephaniepettyrn@yahoo.com

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is proud and excited to be
hosting the upcoming STEM Career Showcase- a conference for students with
disabilities. In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month we
invite you to bring a student with a disability to visit the Museum on October
16th to attend this conference from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm.
The conference will provide young students with disabilities, in grades 3-12,
with the opportunity to interact with college students and working
professionals with a variety of disabilities. Please save the date for this
opportunity to connect your students with disabilities with role models that
are pushing back the boundaries of knowledge, building new innovative
products, and creating the new technologies of the future.
Please note that the intended audience for this conference is academic
students with disabilities in grades 3-12 that are performing at or near grade
level. One-to-one chaperone is required. Please note that this conference is
free of cost but does require pre-registration. For any questions you may
