Room Parent Corner
Every Teacher has unique views on what they need from a room parent. Some
teachers would like room parents to just organize parties and field trips
others want them to help organize volunteers for centers or special events in
the classroom. You will need to speak very frankly with your teacher early
in the year to determine what their needs are.
The PTA has specific needs from the room parents as well. We often try and
reach all parents electronically but they have not signed up for our yahoo!
group so we email our room parent coordinators to email the room parents who
in turn email their classroom parents. You are also more aware of the
students whose parents do not have internet access or speak English as a
second language. There are also times we need volunteers from a specific
grade or track to assist with a PTA project and we will ask you to email your
parent list.
