Looking Ahead: This week we will be studying:

Language Arts
: This week we will continue to work with character change. We will also work on grammar and figurative language. We will have our quarter 1 ELA benchmark the week of October 23. The exact date will be announced soon. In writing, we will finish editing our personal narratives and produce a final typed copy. We will begin to look at memoirs.

Social Studies
: We are going to look at more key terms and concepts in our economy unit. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday. Our Economics unit test is planned for Friday, 10/20.

: This week, we will review all first quarter objectives (place value, rounding, adding, subtracting decimals to the hundredths, multiplication, division, and the Powers of 10). We will have a quiz on Thursday 10/19 and a quarterly benchmark assessment the following week on 10/26.

: This week in Science we will complete our Motion and Design unit and look at heat transfer. Vocabulary words such as conduction, convection, and radiation will be explored in class. We will culminate the motion and design unit by participating in an egg drop on October 25th. I am attaching the directions to this email and will provide the students with hard copies. Students are encouraged to go to to review first quarter concepts. We will administer the quarterly benchmark next Tuesday 10/25.
