Student Directions

Your mission is to create a newsletter to highlight the happenings of your school.  This can include academic and extra-curricular activities.  First, your will need to decide what stories you would like to include in your newsletter.  Then decide how to get the stories. You can use the Murray Website collecting information from other teacher sites or from daily announcements on our home page.

Once the interviews, stories, or articles have been obtained, place the articles in your desktop publishing program, MS Publisher.  Do not apply any formatting enhancements to the document at this time. Use the template provided. Change the font, graphics and titles to reflect your article.

When all articles have been placed or keyed into your template you can delete the extra pages setup by the newsletter template.  Your newsletter must have a masthead/banner, a dateline, three columns and two pages .  Consult your text for software specific directions on creating the newsletter.

Remember to include the following items:

·        One appropriate graphic per column or article

·        Article titles (set apart by formatting enhancement)

·        One reference to your school’s website address

·        One pull quote

·        _2 pages_______________________       (teacher added requirement)

·        _Spell Checked__________________       (teacher added requirement)

·        _Grammar Checked_______________       (teacher added requirement)

Check your work against the rubric to make an assessment of your success!
