TOY LAND PRODUCTIONS

Issue 6123-Volume #50                 October 18, 20--

Production Levels

In this issue of Toy Land Productions we will address the matter of production levels.  Production levels have dropped dramatically over the past two weeks.  This is a great concern to the supervisor, as we only have nine days left before the big shipment for the new store in Paris leaves the plant.  The wooden cars, which have been taking only 30 minutes to produce in the past, are now taking 45 minutes.  Flor supervisors, also known as The Money Guys, have tested the temperature on the production floor during the past week.  It seems that no matter the temperature, the production level does not increase.  The human-resources department is currently conducting a survey to get to the bottom of this issue.  Please check in your mailbox in the employe lounge and complete your survey.  It is vital that all surveys be returned to the suggestion box in the lounge before Wednesday at noon.  Any production floor employee not turning in their survey will not be allowed to attend the company trip to Atlantic Beach on Saturday.

Quality Control Issues

Looking at the quality result surveys from last year, toy quality standards are at an all time high.  We have had less than two-percent of delivered toys to have any reported problms.  The problems turned in from Hawaii seem to be related with a moisture issue from delivery plane.  The plane has since been insulated so extreme temperature changes from the Alaska Plant to the hotter climates (look for the rest of this paragraph in your workbook and key it)

1.     Center the newsletter title, Toy Land Productions, in bold 36-point type.

2.     Left align the Issue and Volume Number and right align the date.

3.     In the first article, Production Levels, make the following edits:

    • Center the title in bold 14-point Arial font type
    • Single space and left-align the text in plain 12-point type
    • Indent the paragraph
    • Italicize the title Toy Land Productions in the first sentence

4.      In the second article, Quality Control Issues, italicize the title, Toy Land Productions.

5.      Below the last article, type in the following article:  Looking to the Future.

Remember to:

    • Key as accurately as possible the title and paragraphs in the box below
    • Center and format the title in bold 14-point type
    • Indent the paragraph
    • Left align the text in 12-point type
    • Use correct keyboarding techniques
    • Use word wrap and ignore any differences between what you key and how the paragraphs appear on this page
    • Use the spell checker

Looking to the Future

Looking towards this year, the goal for quality control is one and a half percent.  If all employees work at top production levels and keep the “Take Two for Quality” motto in mind, this goal should again become a reality.  The Big Guy is going to be calling up the top one-percent of all employees to be trained as quality control supervisors.  These employees will be released from all production-floor duties.  Training will take place at the Development Center located at Salter Path, North Carolina.  Lanning says this move should make sure that all toys leaving the plant are of the highest quality.
