Dear Parents,

I will begin my leave on Wednesday, October 28, returning on Friday, December 18. Mrs. Marielle Young will cover my classes while I am gone. She is a licensed teacher, an experienced substitute at OLG, and an OLG parent. Please welcome her to our class! During my leave, you can communicate with Mrs. Young by sending notes with your child or leaving messages with the front office. I will likely not be checking my voice mail or my email during my leave.

Thank you for all your support and kindness during the last weeks of my pregnancy! If you have any questions, you may contact me by email at crusch@olgsch.org.

Fondly,

Catherine Rusch

Thu, 10.22 TODAY IN CLASS

Language Arts: Students who are caught up checked their new drafts according to the rubric. The rubric for the book review is available in the documents section of this website. They completed the self-score checklist, determined whether their writing merited a 1, 2, 3, or 4, and calculated a self-score total. They made notes to themselves about what they could do to improve their papers. Then, students completed each step in the editing checklist, available in the documents section of this website. Since they are at the editing stage of the writing process, they are checking COPS, adhering specifically to the checklist, which focuses on the mistakes that middle school students are most likely to make and the mistakes that spell check doesn't catch. When students edit, they MUST use a red ink pen, proper proofreading marks, and rule numbers for each correction that has a rule. These students will type in these corrections tonight and print their final drafts TWICE to be turned in tomorrow for 2 test grades, one on the writing process and one on the final product.
