Get plenty of rest for the IOWAs this coming week.

9/1: Use the second set of peer comments to create a final draft that you will leave with me when you go to the mountains (plan to leave your Day Book with me on Friday 9/4). Review Stormbreaker and the notes you took in class for a test on the book on Friday.

8/28: Read over your peers' comments about your draft; use these peer reviews to begin revising the character sketch you started this past week. A second draft is due on Monday.

Remember to be reviewing Stormbreaker for a test that we will have at the end of the week.

8/27: Choose a fairy tale from the list we made today (you should have this list in your Day Book). Choose one of the characters in the tale that you would like to write about. Bring this work with you to class tomorrow.

Happy Summer!

I hope you are having a fun and restful summer. I am looking forward to sharing an exciting year of great literature with you. Remember that you are responsible for reading the required books listed above. If you would also like to read Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, you can do so as well. Sometime during the first week of school, we will briefly discuss the first three books in lit class and have a brief test and/or writing assignment about them, so . . . read on and try to remember major characters and plot events! I know we will have a great year together, and I can't wait to hear your ideas about what you have read and like to read. See you at the end of August!
