Homework

Homework is an important required component for middle school Spanish. I review homework to evaluate overall comprehension of the topics covered in class. My experience has shown that students who put forth the effort to complete their assignments will do better on tests / quizzes. Homework is also a way for students to relearn and review the material covered in class as well as prepare them for test / quizzes. Hence, homework accounts for 25% of a student's overall grade.

Homework must be completed in its entirety and be submitted on time in order to receive full credit (100). Penalties will be assessed for incomplete or late assignments receiving a grade of 50. Once a unit of study is completed, late homework relevant to that unit will not be accepted and result in a zero grade.

Please follow these additional homework guidelines:

  • Use legible, neat handwriting
  • Use appropriate school heading
  • Label assignments with page and exercise number
  • Answer questions using complete sentences
  • Write textbook exercises in their entirety (i.e., write the complete exercise in a fill-in-the-blank and/or include the questions in a question-and-answer exercise). For multiple choice exercises, provide answers using complete sentences

Make-up Assignments

When not in class, students are responsible for getting missed assignments and completing work in a timely manner. Because I am a mobile teacher going from class to class, students are responsible for coming to my office (Lower School building, 3rd floor, Room 206) to obtain the necessary handouts / worksheets after dismissal until 3:30 pm..

12/11/09 - Complete textbook p. 79 activities 22, 23.

12/10/09 - Chapter 5B test is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 15th. Second quarter project assignment given today. This project is worth a test grade. Due January 14th.

12/07/09 - Complete textbook p. 77 act. 19.

12/03/09 - Complete textbook p. 77 act. 20 and workbook p. 97-98.

12/01/09 - Complete workbook p. 96.

11/30/09 - Textbook p. 74; rewrite sentences from "Exploración del lenguaje" using -ísimo(a) endings.

11/23/09 - Complete textbook p. 72 act. 10.

11/20/09 - Complete textbook p. 71 act. 8. This assignment is due on 11/30.

11/17/09 - Complete textbook p.69 activity 5.

11/16/09 - Complete workbook p. 94-95.

11/13/09 - Study conjugation of verbs venir, ir, estar, ser, jugar and querer for quiz on Monday, 11/16.

11/12/09 - Create a study guide for vocabulary on p. 64-65. Include all words in bold, blue type.

10/30/09 - Complete workbook p.89-90. Study for Chapter 5A test scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3rd.

10/26/09 - Write a short paragraph (at least 4 sentences) in Spanish discussing someone that is dear to you. Occasionally, use the diminutive form for some nouns. You may describe his/her personality, likes/dislikes, relationship to you, and age among other things.
