returned.

Science Midterm = Monday, January 11, 2010.

The questions for the midterm exam will be
taken from the quizzes and tests from the 1st and 2nd quarter.

The students should have these papers. I
returned all of the papers that were signed by parents.

They should study ...Tests = Cell Parts,
Chapter 9 Cell test, Genetics/Heredity test, River System quiz and the Bodies
of Water test.

Students will need to bring to school the
summer reading book, Brian's
Winter by
Thursday.

8S now has the information about the 17
river basins' expectations. They will begin on Friday.

8W and 8S : Students should have their study
guide notes completed for reviewing for the
test on Thursday, December 10.

8 Wilkings continued to work on their NC
river basins oral presentation. Pairs of students will present the information
from the detailed borchure outlining the background of the river basin. They
know the expectations for this activity.

November 23, 2009 ( Monday)

Persuasive essay is due tomorrow - Nov. 24,
2009. Make sure to follow the directions stated on the assignment paper.

In class students learned about the history
of the Colorado River and the problems it faces today.
-
Then they began Section 5 - Chapter 2 - page
74 about "Wetland Environments". They worked in their workbook completing
pages 43 , 44 and 45.
November 19, 2009 ( Thursday)

We corrected workbook pages 39-42 ( Section
4).

Special assignment: Students are to write a
persuasive essay following the directions on the papers entitled " The
Columbia River Debate". It will be a 5 paragraph essay in which the students
are to a viewpoint from the paper or come up with another viewpoint of their
own.

The format was given out in class and
together reviewed. The expectations are known.
-
This is due on Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
November 18, 2009 ( Wed.)

Yesterday we continued in the chapter
discussing and taking notes about the layers of a pond and lake as well as the
wildlife/plants that are found at these layers.
-
Today students wrote the description to
"What is lake turnover? " and " What is the process of eutrophication ?" in
lakes.

Homework: 8 Wilkins and 8 Saintsing = Read
and complete workbook pages 39 -42. ( Chapter 2 - Section 4 - page 65 ) This
is due tomorrow

All textbooks need to be covered or
recovered by Friday, Nov. 20. This will be considered a homework grade for all
students.
