Myers Weekly News

It was great to see so many families at the Book Fair Event! Your child can still purchase books if they bring money this week on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We have now finished our unit on world geography and will shift our attention to Native Americans and Pilgrims. Our grade parents will be contacting everyone about items we need for the Thanksgiving feast. This year we will have the feast during lunch on Tuesday, November 24, so your child will not need to bring or buy lunch that day.

This week our spelling focus will be long vowel i and o words spelled with a silent e. We will continue to work on plural nouns and adding an apostrophe to show possession. This week the students will be writing a Thanksgiving poem using their 5 senses and creating a poetry placemat during Literacy Centers.

I will be attending and presenting at the National Council of Teachers of English confernce in Philadelphia on Thursday and Friday of this week. Mrs. Standen will be the substitute.

The first grade is participating in a pajama drive. If you would like to help us collect new pj's for children of all ages, please send in your donations by Dec 7th.

Congratulations to Owen who is the Panther of the Week. Owen is a creative student who tries to be a good friend to all of his classmates!

Reminders

  • Tuesday is a dress down day for $1 and a can of food
