Myers Weekly News
Thank you to all the parents who met with me for a conference. It is a blessing to teach students of such supportive parents. If you had to reschedule your conference, I will be sending out alternate dates soon. November is a quick month with many days off, so hopefully everyone enjoyed the long weekend and is ready to get back to work. We will finish up our Geography unit this week. Our main focus has been world geography. I would like to save the US Geography for when we have more time in the Spring. So if you have contacted family and friends about postcards, that is great! I will save them as they come in. I will send out another reminder about the post card project in the Spring, when we are ready for that unit. After this week we only have two weeks before Thanksgiving and we want to study Native Americans and Pilgrims in preparation for our Thanksgiving Feast. The PreK, Kindergarten and First grade teachers are still working out the details of the feast, but we will pass on that information soon.
During many of the conferences I spoke about our effort to remain reverent at Mass and during prayer. I encourage you to have your child attend Mass with you on the weekend. Your child can be an active participant; this includes singing, saying the correct responses and really listening to the readings. I mentioned to several families about MagnifiKid (magnifikid.com) which is a resource I have used with my own children. These weekly booklets come in the mail (one month at a time) and have the readings and responses for the weekend. I am just sharing this resource with you, please feel no obligation to purchase these materials.
Father James will be visiting our classroom on Thursday. The students created a list of questions they wanted to ask him. These range from asking about his family, Saints, to why bibles are different. Take time to talk with your child about his visit. It should be very informative.
The first grade is participating in a pajama drive. If you would like to help us collect new pj's for children of all ages, please send in your donations by Dec 7th. See the enclosed letter for more information.
There is no spelling test this week, but two homework assingments are due on Friday.
Congratulations to Nicole who is the Panther of the Week. Nicole comes to school every day with a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard!
