Dear Parents,
We were so lucky today to have two wonderful guest speakers in our class!
Mr. Martinez (father of Christian and Jonathan in 5th grade) and Mr. Koch, a
co-worker of his, displayed Mr. Koch's tremendous collection of US flags from
different eras in American history. We learned so much about our country from
their presentation! It was a really informative presentation which fit
perfectly with our states and capitals unit!
Believe it or not, we only have about two weeks of school left! We do
not have school next Monday, May 27th, in observance of Memorial Day. We will
have our boys vs. girls competition next week! Children only have until this
Wednesday to ask to make up any of the tests they have not passed on the
states, capitals, or state facts.
This week:
Religion: We will learn that the Eucharist is a gift. We will be reviewing
terms and concepts from the whole year as we play "Stump the Shepherd!"
Spelling: Test on Unit 34 on Friday. Bonus word is "absolution."
Reading: We are in small groups reading chapter books during these last weeks
of the year. We will also be practicing some common core concepts in reading.
Math: We will be reviewing concepts from the year and taking quarterly tests
to see what we remember!
Social Studies: Boys vs. Girls! Know your states, capitals and facts!
Science: We will do a unit on sound.
Birthdays: Jack-5/20! Christina-5/26!!
Totally Terrific Me: We are finished with Totally Terrific Me!
Kinders: Kinders are over for the year! We will have a popsicle party with
our kinders on Thursday as a whole class.
Have a great week!
