Dear Parents,
Today we had our states and capitals game! The students have really
done a wonderful job learning their states, abbreviations, capitals, and
facts!
Tomorrow night, we will have our music concert in the Fallon Center.
Children should arrive by 6:30. They should wear church clothes.
Your child is bringing home a Birthchoice baby bottle this week. The
children shoudl try to fill the baby bottle with loose change. These will be
collected at the end of the week. Thanks for your support of this charity!
At this point, we are having Field Day this Friday. Pray for sun!
Remember:
*Rainforest project is due this Friday, May 16th.
*Please save the date for the spring music concert, tomorrow, Tuesday, May
13th, at 7 p.m. in the Fallon Center. Our 3rd grade will be participating.
A half-sheet of paper about this has already gone home.
*Wednesday, the 2nd graders will be having their garage sale to benefit the
Catholic Parish Outreach. The 3rd graders will shop at this (couple of
dollars or even $1 is fine).
This week's plan:
Religion: We will finish up our chapter on the resurrection of Jesus. We
will have a quiz on Wednesday.
Spelling: We will have a regular spelling test this week on another copied
unit I have given them. Bonus word is "Beijing."
Reading: We will read "Visitors From Space." We will have a regular
reading test on Thursday. Study vocabulary!
Math: Please remind your children to be going through their flashcards a
little each night. Word has it that Uncle George is coming back in on
Wednesday morning to give the children a multiplication test! We have also
started learning about writing fractions as decimals (tenths, hundredths).
Social Studies: We will be learning about different people and their
cultures, and we will identify the beliefs we all hold in common.
Science: Our last unit for the year will be on motion, forces, and
electricity. We have received our new vocabulary cards today.
Kinder-readers: Will T., Rachel, Katherine, Jack, Beth, and Katie
will read to Mrs. Johnston's kindergarten class tomorrow. They should bring
3-4 books!
Totally Terrific Me: Katharine Jones!
Birthdays: None this week.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Huger
