January 11, 2010
Dear Parents,
We will be reciting our poems on Tuesday, January 26 from 12:45-1:30.
PARENTS ARE INVITED!!!! We would love for you to come in and see our class
recite all of the wonderful poems we have read. Remember that written poems
are due by January 22, and we will practice reciting them in class next week
in preparation for our parent presentation. Remember also that children are
to use a prop. Children can start bringing props starting Tuesday, January
19th. (I still need a videotaper!!! See below.)
*****Book orders are being sent home in today's folder. If you would like to
order, please have it in by this Friday.
*****We are in need of empty tissue rolls for a project we are doing. Please
send in as many as you can as soon as you can. Thanks!
*****I SENT THE JANUARY BOOK REPORT HOME IN THE MONDAY FOLDER BEFORE
CHRISTMAS. THE CHILDREN WILL BE READING A BOOK OF POETRY AND THEN RECITING A
POEM TO THE CLASS USING A PROP. IT SHOULD BE A POEM OF AT LEAST 12 LINES. I
HAVE SHOWN THEM SOME OLD VIDEO OF FORMER STUDENTS, AND I THINK THEY GET THE
IDEA. PARENTS WILL BE INVITED TO COME IN AND SEE THESE!
*****If anyone is handy with a videocamera and would like to make a DVD of
these for us, please let me know. It would just involve videotaping the
children and then making the copies for everyone in the class (DVD's will be
provided.) Many thanks!
This week's basic plan:
Religion: We will have a quiz tomorrow on Chapter 10.

Thursday!
Science: We will start a new unit on rocks and minerals.
Kinder-readers: Anna, Colleen, Mia, Matthew, Zach, and E.J. should bring
in 3-4 books on Tuesday to read to the kindergarteners in Mrs. Johnston's
class.
