Dear Parents,

We just finished cleaning up after a wonderful afternoon feast of Stone Soup,
dinner rolls, cookies, mini pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin muffins. Thank you
all for sending in all the items for this fun day; we really appreciate your
help. Thank you also to Mrs. Castiller, Mrs. Klug and Mrs. Winstead for
helping with the meal and helping the class to make their headdresses. These
will dry in the classroom over night and go home tomorrow.

On this Thanksgiving week, we would like also to express our gratitude to our
reading group leaders and all of you who have helped us these first few months
of the school year. We feel blessed to have your help and support.

Last week, some of the children had an opportunity to borrow a tape recorder
so that they could record themselves reading out loud at home, and next week
we will send them home with the children who have not yet had a chance with
them (we were going to do that today, but decided to wait b/c of the rainy
weather). It's a helpfulexercise that is intended to aid them in improving
their fluency and the expression they use while reading out loud. Every child
will have an opportunity to take a recorder home over the next couple of
weeks. (If you already have one at home that you can use, please let us know
so that we can send recorders home with children who do not.) Recorders and
tapes should be returned to class the day after they go home.

Just a reminder that our last day of school before Thanksgiving recess is
tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 24. School will resume on Monday, November 30.

There are many items of clothing on the "lost and found" table in the
cafeteria. Every effort is made to match items that are labeled with their
owner. Most of the items, unfortunately, are not labeled. Please stop by to
see if anything in the lost and found pile might belong to your child. All
items that are not claimed prior to Christmas break will be donated.

Please continue to work with your children everyday to learn and develop
fluency with their math facts. As we move on to subtraction and addition of
2- and 3- digit numbers, those students who have mastered their addition facts
will have a much easier time with the new material. Mrs. Trainor has posted a
"Race for the Gold" chart to help motivate our class to increase their Mad
Minute scores.

Have a blessed, safe and fun Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Frinzl
