December 7, 2009
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a good weekend. We're getting ready for a busy couple of
weeks before we break for Christmas next Friday. Here are a few dates to keep
in mind:
This week --
Tuesday: Feast of the Immaculate Conception Mass at 8:15. Please be sure to
arrive to school on time. We will head over to Church at 8:05 am in order to
secure seats for the class as this Mass is open to all parishioners.
Wednesday: Christmas choral concert. Please bring your child to the
classroom between 6:30 and 6:45 pm. We will walk over to Church together as a
class. Dress for this event is dressy Christmas holiday attire. Mr. Tomczak
will give the children more details about this. In years past, he's asked the
children to wear something with red in it. This is a special evening, and we
know you will enjoy the program.
Thursday: The class will shop at Angel Shop at 12:30. If your child would
like to shop at Angel Shop, please send in money in an envelope labeled with
your child's name and the amount enclosed. If you are sending a check, please
be sure the check is signed and indicate a maximum amount you are permitting
your child to spend.
Saturday: Breakfast with Santa in the Fallon Center.
Next Week --
Monday: Kindergarten Christmas program performance for the student body in
the Fallon Center.
Tuesday: Chess Club (Christmas party) after school.
Friday: Early Dismissal at 11:45 -- NO LEAP
First Grade Living Nativity
Students are permitted to wear Christmas socks and/or hats. This is also our
student treat day. Details to come...
Parent Reading Groups: Thank you to all parents who have helped with Monday
reading groups. Unfortunately, we have had difficulty this year scheduling
enough parents to come for Monday reading groups. We ask that you please find
a substitute if you are not able to come on your scheduled day. If we
continue to have scheduling problems, we will have to consider discontinuing
reading groups this year.
We were able to start our first lesson in cursive handwriting today! We will
learn cursive one letter at a time in class. The students have been told that
they should not try writing any letter in cursive on their own before they
have been taught the proper formation in class. Thanks for helping us with
this. They're very excited to learn, but if they develop any bad habits early
on, it's hard to break them.
If anyone has walnut shell halves, please send them into class. We would like
to make a Christmas ornament with them if we have enough for the class.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Frinzl
Mrs. Trainor
