The mission of the Diocese of Charlotte’s Learning Support Program is to recognize and facilitate a successful learning environment for each student experiencing learning differences in the classroom. The Learning Support Program of the Diocese of Charlotte is a regional program established in each of our seventeen schools. The Learning Support Program is a source created for the purpose of addressing the individual learning needs of our students. Each school has a Learning Support teacher (s), who is certified and experienced in working with specific learning needs. The Learning Support Program addresses learning issues by providing support at three levels: Student, Teacher, and Parent. Goals To assist the family and school community in identification of students needing additional educational support. These needs include mild learning disabilities, learning concerns, and attention disorders. To provide support which may include direct instruction to reinforce regular classroom instruction for students who are appropriately placed in a mainstreamed learning environment. To consult with teachers in providing appropriate and successful instruction to students in the mainstreamed environment who can be successful in the Diocese of Charlotte system. Student Accommodation Plans for support class may be provided for students with diagnosed learning concerns. To support parents who are seeking information, support, and/or services for their child who requires additional assistance (Learning Support Assistance, assessment/evaluation/treatment by community professionals, alternative school placement)
