Objective: To research and present information on two different animals native to North Carolina.

 

Directions: Select two animals that you would like to research.  You will research these animals and write a two-page (one page for each animal) report about the two animals and the adaptations that are necessary in order to adapt to their environment.

 

Vocabulary: Incorporate the following words in your research report: environment, climate, habitat, diet, adaptation, camouflage, mimicry, instinct, and migration.

Card 1-Description

· color, weight, height, length, body structure of animal

 

Card 2-Habitat

· Describe the environment in which the animal lives.  Habitat may change throughout the seasons.

 

Card 3-Diet

· What does the animal eat (prey)?

 

Card 4-Adaptations

· What type of adaptations does the animal have in order for he/she to survive?  Include: body structure, camouflage, mimicry, behavior,

    hibernation, migration.

 

Card 5-Interesting Facts

· Any interesting facts you find about your animal that should not be included in the other topics.
